Chat history
Your chats are saved locally for this project. Reopen past work, keep important conversations handy, and find messages in long chats. Switching chats does not delete their messages.
Open and organize chats
- Open the sidebar and select a conversation under Favorites or Chats.
- Hover a chat to Favorite chat or Archive chat, or right-click it and choose Rename.
- To restore an archived chat, open Archived chats, click Unarchive, then choose View now.
Ziva names chats automatically. Rename them whenever you want. Archiving hides a chat without deleting it.
Delete a chat permanently
- Archive the chat first.
- Open Archived chats in the sidebar and click the trash icon next to it.
- Click Delete to confirm.
Deleting cannot be undone. It removes the chat from this computer. Chats you forked from it are kept.
Deleting does not remove a public share link you created. Stop sharing the chat before deleting it if you want the public copy taken offline.
Search chats and messages
- Click Search chats in the sidebar to search active chat titles. Use the arrow keys and Enter to open a result. Archived chats are not included.
- Inside an open chat, press Ctrl+F or Cmd+F to use Find in chat. This searches its loaded messages, not every conversation.
Navigate a long chat
Use the Chat outline ticks or the Previous message and Next message controls to jump between messages.
Click Load earlier messages to include older messages in the outline and Find in chat.
Read-only conversations after an update
Chats marked as read-only archives can still be read and exported, but you cannot continue them, use Undo or Retry, compact them, or fork them. Start a new chat for more work.
An interrupted response is different: saved content stays visible, but the response may not resume automatically. Choose Retry if available, or start a new chat and resend your request. See restart troubleshooting if this keeps happening.
Privacy
Chat history stays in your project’s local Ziva data. Sending a new message can share relevant conversation content with your selected AI provider; sharing a chat creates a separate public copy.
Troubleshooting
A chat is missing from Search chats. Check Archived chats and unarchive it first.
Delete is refused. Archive the chat and wait for Ziva to finish working in it before trying again.
Find in chat missed older text. Click Load earlier messages, then search again.
Saved history cannot be opened. Keep your project data and backups, and contact support. Do not delete saved data to try to recover a chat.
