Custom Commands - Prompt Templates
Custom commands save requests you use often. Instead of typing the whole request again, type a shortcut such as /explain-game in chat.
Example
- In your game’s folder, create the folders
.ziva/commands/if they do not exist. - Save the following text as
.ziva/commands/explain-game.md. - Type
/explain-gamein Ziva’s message box to use it.
---
description: Explain how my game works
---
I'm new to Godot and making a simple 2D game.
Explain how the current scene works in plain language.
Suggest one small improvement, but don't change anything yet. What to write
Use commands for requests you repeat, such as explaining a scene, suggesting the next small step, or checking how to play your game. For preferences that should apply in every chat, use AGENTS.md instead.
Optional: command file format, arguments, and locations
Format
A command is a Markdown (.md) file. The filename becomes the command name: explain-game.md becomes /explain-game.
The optional fields at the top, between --- lines, describe the command:
descriptionappears in the command picker. If missing, the first non-empty line is used.argument-hintshows what you can enter after the command.
The rest of the file is the request Ziva receives.
Arguments
You can pass extra details after a command:
$1,$2, … are replaced with arguments 1, 2, etc.$@or$ARGUMENTSexpands to all arguments joined together.${1:-default}uses argument 1 if present, otherwisedefault.
For example, save this as .ziva/commands/plan-feature.md:
---
description: Plan one small game feature
argument-hint: <feature>
---
I'm new to Godot. Keep this a simple 2D game.
Explain a short plan for adding $1. Don't edit the game yet.Use it with /plan-feature "a collectible coin". Quotes keep a phrase together as one argument.
Where Ziva looks
Ziva loads custom commands from these locations. Project commands take priority over home-folder commands with the same name.
| Location | Scope |
|---|---|
<project>/.ziva/commands/ | This project (highest priority) |
<project>/.agents/commands/ | This project, alternative location |
~/.ziva/commands/ | All projects on this computer |
~/.agents/commands/ | All projects on this computer, alternative location |
<project> is your game’s folder. ~ means your home folder.
